Chevrolet had briefly upstaged Ford when they introduced the 1927
Series AA. While the Model T was still in production, Chevrolet's
revolutionary overhead valve 171 cubic inch four-cylinder engine
was mated to a sliding-fork transmission and conventional
three-pedal arrangement which made it infinitely more simple to
drive compared to the rather agricultural Model T.
For 1928, the model was renamed National Series AB and freshened
with a longer wheelbase and facelifted styling from the newly
formed Art and Colour Section at General Motors. Chevrolet
continued its momentum, and even faced with the all-new Ford Model
A, continued to lead the sales chart..
This 1928 Chevrolet National AB Roadster is a very fine example of
this uncommon early Chevy. It is an attractive, great running
example that has been very well maintained by its most recent
owner. Believed to have been originally purchased for a woman as a
gift from a suitor, it is unclear if the new Chevrolet achieved the
desired goal. Wearing a desirable body style, this rare and
pleasing Chevrolet roadster is well suited for driving and
enjoyment.
