For Sale: 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 in Concord, North Carolina
With two turbos, all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and every
piece of electronic wizardry available at the time, the 1996
Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR4 was the perfect Japanese supercar. It
combined a technological tour-de-force with eyeball-flattening
acceleration and cornering abilities that rivaled fly-paper for
grip. So to find a freshly painted stunner that has been respected
from day one is always desirable... and this one's affordable price
makes it irresistible.
In the 1990s, Japan's biggest car markets battled it out for
technological superiority, and few will argue that the Mitsubishi
3000 GT VR4 wasn't the most advanced machine of its time. With a
recent investment in a full repaint only about a year old, the
factory-correct Solano Black Pearl has a sleek dark appearance like
a ninja slipping through the night (so does that make the bright
18-inch factory alloys it throwing stars?) But Japanese warrior
comparisons aside, you can instantly tell this coupe is something
special. There was reportedly only 71 black VR4 coupes imported in
1996 (out of only 314 total.) That makes it one of the rarest
entries into the new class of classic cars, and so it has been
treated with the esteem it deserves. The sheetmetal is smooth; all
the glass is clear and complete; and even the rear spoiler is
immaculate.
Tan leather always looks great against a black exterior, but this
one feels exceptionally nice. As a top-of-the-line sports car that
wanted to push technology boundaries in the 1990s, it is still
quite luxurious as it enters into classic status. This includes
power seats, keyless entry, power windows, power locks, sunroof,
cruise control, heated seats, ice-cold air conditioning, and a
premium Infinity AM/FM/cassette with CD changer and equalizer. But
more than just loaded, this is a true sports car with grippy bucket
seats, stick shift, and an adjustable driving modes. And no matter
if you like old-school muscle machines or state-of-the-art
performance, the full set of analogue gauges (with a large tach and
speedo in front of the driver) instantly gets your enthusiast heart
racing.
The 3000GT's big claim to fame was its twin-turbocharged 3.0 liter
V6, which cranked out a very impressive 320 horsepower. In a car so
well presented so far, you'll be happy to know this is the 3000
GT's original powerplant. And you get complete control over this
high technology engine thanks to the six-speed manual transmission.
And while the power could keep up with its contemporaries in a
straight line, this special coupe would always surpass them in the
corners. All-wheel drive and four-wheel steering made this a rally
car for the streets. And this confidence is only reinforced by the
four-wheel disc brakes w/ABS, power steering, and Uniroyal Tiger
Paw GTZ tires.
Complete with owner's manual packet, maintenance records, and
receipts, this is supercar ability with Japanese reliability. So
don't miss your rare opportunity at a unique sports machine that
never lost its demand. Call now!
