Chevrolet's first-generation Camaro facelift would serve the 1969
model year only. While major mechanical components were carried
over from 1968, new sheet metal, except the hood and trunklid, gave
the car a markedly sportier look. New door skins, rear quarter
panels and rear valance panel also gave the car a much lower, wider
and aggressive look.
"This is our mean streak," is how Chevrolet described its
new-for-1969 Z28 in selected advertisements. In addition to the
model's standard 290 horsepower, 302 cubic inch Turbo-Fire V-8
engine, buyers received quick-ratio steering, special suspension,
Rally stripes, Z28 emblems and more. Mandatory options included
power front disc brakes and manual transmission with floor-mounted
shifter.
This excellent example is handsomely finished in code 72 Hugger
Orange (as seen on the data tag) with black stripes and a black
interior. This Camaro is powered by the previously mentioned 290
horsepower, 302 cubic inch Turbo-Fire engine which is paired with a
four-speed manual transmission with Hurst shifter. The center
console displays the optional instruments and the dash carries the
speedometer plus tachometer. The interior is very clean and
exhibits seat belts, front headrests, wood-rimmed steering wheel,
and AM/FM factory radio. Among the features are front and rear
spoilers, Rally wheels, Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires, power
steering, and power brakes.
This is a well-presented and highly desirable American muscle
platform in a fantastic color combination that is sure to be
well-received wherever you may travel.
