Vehicle Description
Chevrolet was ready to take the gloves off with its competitors of
the Corvette, so in '89 they introduced at the Geneva Car Show the
Corvette ZR-1...simply a monster at the time. This highly
engineered setup was just about double the price of a standard
Corvette and generated a waiting list instantly to the dealers
across the USA. Dealers had such strong demand that of the 3,049
produced in '90 almost all were sold at a $20-40k premium over the
MSRP.
This well preserved example is in remarkable shape inside and out
and comes with a lot of great paraphilia that many of these have
lost or been discarded over the years. The famous "pizza box" is
complete with owner's manual, VHS cassette, factory spare keys,
wallet key, hard bond ZR-1 book, leather satchel with VIN#
embossed, factory MSRP and ZR-1 key chain. Vehicle was sold out of
New Jersey in July of 1990 and exchanged a few hands over the past
27 years before coming into our position. The paint and moldings
are in great shape and show that this car was pampered its entire
life and kept in a nice climate controlled environment and was not
abused or neglected. Car comes with the factory windshield that has
the cutout for the radar detector, along with a stock look with the
only upgrade being the wheels that were from the last two years of
production of the ZR-1 in '93 and '94. Vehicle also has two
removable tops, the glass and painted version depending on your
mood as well as the electronic air conditioning. The factory specs
were impressive and the ZR-1 package gave you the 32 valve V8
sourced from Mercury Marine and developed in conjunction with
Lotus. Further features were; massive 17x11 rear wheels, squared
off rear tail lamps, performance handling package, side moldings,
selective ride and handling package, power leather adjustable sport
seats, low tire pressure warning, and DELCO stereo with CD and
cassette player.
Crawl in this fighter jet cockpit, slide on your sunglasses, switch
the special key to "Full" power and slide it into 1st gear and
experience a 0-60 time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 176mph.
This is a joy to drive but even more important you are buying
automotive history at its best and a car that will continue to have
a tremendous upside as the year's progress.
