This 1986 Nissan 300ZX was purchased new in Cherry Hill, New Jersey
on May 28, 1986. Affectionately nicknamed "Lucy" by the one and
only lady owner, it has been perpetually garaged, professionally
(and meticulously) serviced, and always cleaned and detailed to
perfection. It is a truly cherished "one of a kind" 300ZX and an
automobile that would be extremely difficult to replace.
As our journey with Lucy continues, in mid-1987, the owner moved to
Appleton, Wisconsin where Lucy resided for the last 30 years. Never
driven in inclement weather and faithfully garaged, Lucy has
remained in outstanding condition as evident by the original
gleaming factory "Hot Red" paint, interior, and engine bay. The
miles are thoroughly documented and currently stand at just under
70,000 pampered miles. It is reported that the car was never abused
or mistreated and the level of high-point care shows throughout.
Every stitch of notable paperwork is included with the Z from day
one, including the original window sticker (all of the documents
are original - no copies), finance agreement, lifetime
rust-proofing (which was applied the same day the car was sold by
the dealer), oil changes, repairs, maintenance, tires, and even
receipts for professional detailing. Nearly every service and
maintenance performed on the 300ZX was completed by the Nissan
Dealership throughout the life of the car. The binder of paperwork
contains over 75 documents and there are multiple sets of OEM
keys.
The current owner conveys that the condition is simply stunning
given the fact that it is 31 years old. Lucy was carefully driven
over the years and as such there are some modest signs of road use.
Very small nicks in the leading edge of the nose are present along
with small areas along the rockers. The original factory-applied
paint retains a deep gloss; however some of the painted pinstripes
are thin in areas from waxing and buffing. The brightwork around
the car looks nearly new with no signs of corrosion or fading. The
rubber trim and weather stripping is immaculate. The wheels show
very well but with some minor scuffing. The engine bay is very
tidy, and displays all the signs of perpetual professional
maintenance. It is unaltered from stock. The interior shows little,
if any, signs of wear or use and remains in mint condition.
Pampered, babied, and gently used, are the best words that come to
mind to describe this exceptional 300ZX.
Among the many respected standards and extras on this exemplary
Nissan is the fuel-injected 3.0-liter V-6 engine with a five-speed
manual transmission, tinted glass T-tops, rear spoiler, factory
alloy wheels, air conditioning that functions properly, vocal
warning system, electric remote side view mirrors, cruise control,
tilt steering wheel, four-wheel disc brakes, illuminated entry
system, AM/FM radio with cassette player, leather-wrapped steering
wheel, rear window defogger, rear window wiper, and eight-way
adjustable sports seats.
The conscientious owner believes that as a new generation of
automobile enthusiasts enter the market, the opportunity to acquire
cars like this one are on the leading edge of the logical evolution
of collectable cars. Early Datsun Zs, such as the 240, 260, and
280s have, he reports, already leaped dramatically forward. For the
Nissan ZX series, a new opportunity now presents itself as a wise
investment that will provide the new owner with not only a rare
example by condition, but one that he projects will continue to
grow in value as astute buyers continue to enter the market in
search of cars from this era - especially those examples in
absolutely pure, original, and unaltered condition from stock. Add
in the loving care of one owner from new, the arguably best color
combination, and a full binder of complete documentation that
testifies to the care this car has received - and you will find
this 1986 300ZX to be one of the best examples extant.
