Vehicle Description
This is exactly what hot rod fun looks like. The 1940 Ford Sedan
Delivery Deluxe gives you all the great lines of a classic pre-war
design, but the deep paint, custom A/C interior, upgraded
suspension, and performance-built V8 all tell you the only delivery
this one will be making is a ton of envy.
Today we all know the '40 Ford Deluxes were destine for hot rod
duty. It has the chrome teardrop surrounds on the headlights, the
long alligator hood, and the front fenders extending beyond the
lights to perfectly accept extra wide wheels. But that's just a
good starting point; it takes a lot of planning and investment to
get a car looking as spectacular as this one. It starts with making
sure the nearly 80-year-old Henry Ford steel is looking its best -
remember, there were only 4240 of these sedan deliveries built in
1940, so each one is already a find worth cherishing. Then add in
some stealthy upgrades like the Studebaker taillights and the
larger 15-inch wheels that can accept modern tires. Of course, a
big deal is getting the right paint. The Bronze Metallic is a
modern hue with a deep luster in the sunlight that gives it
distinction on a show field, and this professional application can
sure draw in a crowd. This kind of shine doesn't need too much
chrome - just the right factory pieces like the bumpers, pointed
grille, and the really cool line that runs the full body length.
It's a total package that makes a total stunner out of a rare
canvas.
Once you open the door, you'll never believe this car is from 1939.
The full custom interior has been done in black leather and
alligator with a particularly nice eye for detail. After all,
everything from the piping on the carpet to the stitching on the
bucket seats matches the alligator insert color. This color scheme
continues on the door panels, long side cargo area panels, and even
the rear door for a full uniform presentation. Plus, you'll love
the details like the Ford V8 logos along the sides and the real
wood cargo floor with custom pinstriping greeting you at the back
door. You'll slip behind the original-style dual spoke steering
wheel, which gives you a commanding view of the custom VDO gauge
panel that's set in a cool alligator trim piece for added
attention. But we know the readout you'll like the most is the Moon
Eyes-style tach mounted on top of the dash. And because this is a
particularly comfortable cruiser, you get modern conveniences like
power windows and ice-cold R134a air conditioning.
With such an all-around coordinated package so far, you're going to
be happy that under the hood is such a nicely presented engine bay.
The batwing air topper and etched valve covers so nicely match the
exterior copper. And beyond the color is a serious investment in
polished components. There's barely 26K miles on the whole build
and the engine was refreshed in 2015. It's that kind of investment
that gives you such an award-worthy presentation. And beyond the
style is some nice substance. This is a powerful and reliable 350
cubic-inch Chevy small block that includes the extra muscle of an
Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and a sweet-sounding dual exhaust.
Also, take some time to look at the undercarriage photos. Because
the suspension is exactly what you want to see. Gone are the
old-style pre-war components and in their place are great upgrades
like a Mustang II-style independent front suspension, a comfortable
Chevelle rear end, front disc brakes, thick sway bars front & rear.
If this starting to sound like a great all-around cruiser, then the
power steering and three-speed automatic transmission only amplify
that feeling.
Those removable side decals say it all about this cool Sedan
Delivery - it earns its place in the sun. So if you're looking for
an all-around classic that has been upgrade to keep you wanting for
nothing, then this '40 Ford is it. But you're not the only one who
wants this kind of turn-key distinction, so hurry up and call
today!
