1956 Chrysler New Yorker St Regis CoupeRare Find! Check out this
Beautiful California Classic There were 6,686 St Regis Coupes built
for the 1956 model year. The St Regis boasted a three-tone paint
scheme versus two-tone paint for the base New Yorker. At over 17
feet long, the power steering comes in very handy! For the 1956,
mechanically, the St. Regis had been revised The Hemi V-8 now
displaced 354 cubic inches and gained half a point of compression,
up to 9.0:1, for 260hp. The old six-volt electrical system was
replaced by a more modern 12-volt system, and the automatic
transmission did away with a shift lever altogether and moved to a
seemingly space-age pushbutton system. A quadrant of buttons,
marked N (neutral), D (drive), L (low) and R (reverse), were
located on the instrument panel, to the left of the steering
column; there was no Park, so at rest, the car stayed in Neutral
with the parking brake on. Early 1956 models used the two-speed
Power Flite Automatic transmission. The Exterior is a 3 Tone Cloud
White/Geranium Red, and Raven Black (paint code 308). The car was
repainted in the late 90s and still shows in good condition. This
New Yorker was well maintained. There is some minor filler in the
bottom quarters, and a small indent in the rear bumper along with
some light pitting on the chrome.Power Brakes The Gray and White
Two-tone interior is mostly original (original front seat under
seat cover) and is only original once. The Armrests and Dash pad
have been reupholstered. The dash is clean with no cracksHeat/
