PPI's WELCOME OFFERS WELCOME! Evolve Motors & Chicago Car Club are
pleased to present this monster of a 1980 MGB! This is one of those
cars that we came across in passing and just knew we had to have
it. There's something so right about the short, stubby MGB with the
addition of sidepipes, a hood scoop, a ducktail spoiler, and
drag-racer-look wheels. The 4.3L Chevy motor, originally from a S10
Blazer, completely changes the character of the car. The car looks,
sounds, and drives angry. It's a real crowd pleaser; people get a
kick out of seeing the muscle-car approach applied to the tame
little cruiser that is the MGB. Modifications aren't limited to the
GM motor and 5spd; this car is fitted with a Positraction limited
slip differential, leaf spring rear end, traction bars, dual
side-exit exhaust, front disc brakes, and a fuel cell and sending
unit. Exterior: Dark purple paint looks great and suits the car
nicely. Paint presents well but isn't without some minor chipping
in the expected areas - behind the rear wheels and on the lower
front lip. Body is in great shape, with no dents or dings. Chrome
side trim shines bright but does have some very light dings. Glass
is all clear and crack-free, as are all lights. Wheels are in
excellent shape, and BF Goodrich Radial TAs (195s all around) have
about 75% tread remaining. Convertible top is in as-new condition,
while the boot cover has a couple small tears. Sidepipes and hood
scoop give the car a seriously muscular look. Rubber seals are all
in nice shape. Interior: Interior is in excellent shape. Black
leather seats are new. Dash is in great shape, and all gauges are
new. AM/FM/CD stereo sounds great with two large Kicker Comp
speakers in the backseat. Carpeting is in nice shape, and the car
will come with a set of MG floormats. Fan does not blow. Windows
are roll-ups. Odometer reads 11,275 miles (since swap), true
mileage on motor is unknown. Under the Hood / Underbody: Underbody
is in nice shape, with no through rust or damage of any sort. Motor
is a 4.3L V6 out of a second generation S10 Blazer and fits in the
engine bay nicely with the addition of the hood scoop. Motor makes
decent power, around 200hp and 250lbft in stock trim. It's
definitely quick and will get the adrenaline flowing, but isn't
what we'd consider scary-fast. Exhaust note is fantastic; it
crackles and pops on let-off, and downshifts will always have
people turning their heads to see where that noise is coming from.
The car feels great on the road, it tracks and brakes straight, and
the brakes reel it in nicely. GM 5 speed manual shifts smoothly and
is much quicker than the old MG gearbox. The car idles cool and
steady, and is a real blast to drive. Overall, this is a unique and
fun summer car with tremendous curb appeal. For additional info,
