original Jeep (a derivation of GP = "General Purpose") of World War
II fame, today's Jeep marque and its many products owe their
existence to the postwar CJ or "Civilian Jeep," which
Willys-Overland initiated in 1944 when Allied victory was all but
certain. From then, the rugged Jeep was relentlessly developed,
improved, and virtually perfected through successive generations
under four corporate parents, progressing through Willys then
Kaiser, American Motors, and finally Chrysler. Possessing great
maneuverability and the ability to traverse the most forbidding
terrains imaginable, civilian Jeeps carried an unbeatable image and
attracted an exceptionally loyal following over the following
decades. Development and improvement was relentless and sales
continue stronger than ever before. However today, there are Jeeps,
and then there is this incredible 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited,
rolling on 20-inch XD-Series wheels and huge 38x15.5x20 Toyo tires.
