1971 Lincoln Continental Mark III in Frankford, West Virginia

Vehicle Description

This is a beautifully done Mark III.  There is 1300 miles on the engine and trans since a rebuild from a shop in Burbank, CA.  This car spent its life in Southern California.  It moved with me to WV in 2015.  It has only been garage-kept.  There is no rust on this Mark!  Body is extrememly straight and there is no filler in it at all.  The car began its life "Platinum White."  One repaint of the same color was done before it got to me.  I stripped all the paint to bare metal and put DTAM black primer on.  The plan was to go gloss black with the color coat and have one mean hombre on my hands.  Life got in the way and I haven't gotten it to the shop for color.  So the new owner can go back to the original color or choose any color out there.   (or keep it as-is) This car is a blast to drive and it definitely turns heads!  Get ready to talk because people love to ask about it.

Basically every part that can be replaced with new or refurbished from old has been done.  It has:

all new body mounts, new engine mounts, wheel bearings, disks, drums, pads, calipers, shocks, suspension bushings of every kind, overhauled steering column, steering gear, rag joint, new steering wheel restoration from Gary's Steering Wheels ($750 alone), re-cored radiator, rebuilt hydraulic windshield wiper motor, redone interior including new dynamat lining the floors and doors, new cut-pile carpet, new headliner,  new navy metallic paint on interior metal,  new weatherstripping on doors, windows, hood, and trunk, new 5-speaker stereo and cd/mp3 player (all without disturbing the interior originality).  Every lamp and buzzer has been replaced with new.  All courtesy lights and signals work right down to the light in the front ashtray.  Please note, not a single cigarette has been burned in this car in 47 years -- but if you smoke you can be the first!  Power locks and windows all work with gears and guts replaced.  The quarter windows don't retract well.  I keep them shut and are water tight with new weather stripping.  Much of the bright work has been replated.  You'll notice the side mirror hasn't been.  That bugs me.  I replaced the original carburetor with a Holley 650 c.f.m. four-barrel.  The factory carbs were notorious for catching on fire so no loss there.  I've got new Nitto NT555 (255/50 ZR17 101W) mounted on 17" U.S. Mags on all four corners.  Oh, and this Ford 460 really growls with dual Magna-Flos underneath.

That's about it.  I'm sure I've forgotten some things.  Come see it in person and take it for a test drive.   I need to move it along so I can make room for the next project.
