Mercury introduced the Park Lane in 1958. By 1960, it was on its
final year of first generation production. Comfortable fittings
provided a relaxed driving experience, plus the moving of the
dashboard forward allowed ample knee room, and the Panoramic
Skylight windshield design (Mercury's largest ever at the time)
allowed for clear views. The Park Lane was offered in three models
the rarest of which was the two-door convertible which Mercury only
produced 1,525 examples of in 1960.
This fine example is laden with amenities and power functions that
includes factory air conditioning day/night mirror, remote driver's
side mirror, passenger side view mirror, AM radio; power steering,
brakes, windows and front seat. The Mercury is driven by its 310
horsepower, 430 cubic inch V-8 engine which is paired with the
Multi-Drive Merc-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission. The
flowing lines of the body are enhanced by bright trim elements and
rear fender skirts.
It was professionally restored by Harbor Auto Restoration in 2008
with winning show results and continues to look fantastic in its
Javelin Bronze finish with black top and two-tone bronze interior.
The Park Lane has AACA First Place awards in Jr. and Sr.
competitions as well as a Grand National First in 2012. Further
acclaim comes from the International Mercury Owner's Association
(IMOA) National Best of Show when it was completed in 2008. The car
returned to the event in 2015, taking home the same honor, a true
testament to the high-quality restoration.
