So, Max Hoffman was not a designer however, the he was the
inspiration behind a few imported cars from Germany. One being the
Porsche Speedster and the other being the 300 SL. Which today,
amount to a huge portion of the money behind collector cars. And in
fact, in the day these were the cheapest versions of the Iconic
sports cars by Benz and Porsche. He saw a need for toned down
cheaper versions of the cars they were already producing. The SL
has a been built since 1954 and is a Grand Touring car. The R-107
chassis was built from 1972 through 1989 with the most sought after
being the 5.6Liter variants or the 560 SL from 1986 through 1989.
These cars featured the most refined motor with the most power.
They also featured a more modern braking system and suspension.
They were also built with a more modern paint system to help with
the protection of rust that was a problem on the earlier
models.
This particular 560 is an excellent driver with just over 90,000
miles from new. It starts, runs and brakes as it should.
