Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale August 17th - 19th, 2017 at
Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Monterey, California Auction. Please
contact us for more information. This factory 23 Window Deluxe
Microbus was purchased new in Wuerzberg, Germany on September 19th,
1962 and was shipped to the United States on May 5th, 1969 by a US
military sergeant who was a VW enthusiast. He owned, used and loved
this bus until sometime in the 80s when it was sold to another VW
enthusiast who planned to restore it but that process really never
began. In 2012 a 3 year old nut-and-bolt concours style restoration
began and has since been restored to a high level. All original
Volkswagen parts used on this restoration are either NOS (new
original stock), rebuilt, re-chromed, re-painted, or polished to a
high standard. 1963 was the last year VW produced the 23 Window
Microbus and has always been held in high regard among VW
enthusiasts around the world as the top of the line model known as
the Sondermodell, meaning Special Edition in German and more
commonly known as the Samba! Every possible effort was made during
this restoration to outline every detail from the Sigla glass to
the last KMAX bolt. Options/Extras: Color combination Beige Grey
