This Porsche 356 Reutter Coupe 1600 C year of construction 1964, was brought back in 2014 from Los Angeles to Germany. The car needed a full restoration and was not a Matching Numbers vehicle. So I decided to build a 356 as it exists only once. I put no value on absolute originality but on perfect quality and contemporary details.
The car was dismantled down to the last screw and the body, doors and hoods were stripped and de-rusted in a dive bath in a special facility in Stuttgart and then sealed with KTL.
Afterwards, all parts which were not in perfect shape were replaced by new sheet metals and tinned. Also during this process an ORIGINAL metal pretzel window from a 1950’s VW Beetle was professionally incorporated into the body. Finally, the vehicle received a new corrosion protection as well as a perfect paint finish in the Porsche color Slate Gray.
The interior is redesigned with red leather as well as Porsche carpet. The seats are speedster seats made of aluminum.
All reusable screws and small parts were chemically cleaned and galvanized again. All non-usable parts have been replaced by new parts. Of course, all rubber coatings and trim strips as well as the windows have been replaced by new parts.
The transmission has been completely disassembled and overhauled and equipped with new parts.
The engine is a rebuilding done by a well-known specialist company. It has a capacity of 1900 ccm and achieves 120 hp. Basis is the last and best version of the Porsche 912 engine. All parts are new parts. The exhaust system was made by EISENMANN.
Billstein suspension, glossy black painted original Porsche steel rims, handmade 356 A style hubcaps, fuel filler neck laid into the case and a complete cavity seal are further details of this vehicle.
The vehicle mastered the full technical inspection by German DEKRA in May without any issues and fulfilled the prerequisites for the granting of the H mark (special registration for historical cars in Germany).
The entire restoration is fully documented.
This vehicle is unique in the world. It is not for everyone but for the one who likes it. The quality is outstanding and the driving experience is perfect. It is really like brand new and perfect in every corner.
