1950 Kurtis Kraft Midget Open wheel Racer in Owls Head, ME

Vehicle Description

Offered for sale at No Reserve is a unique 1950 Kurtis Kraft open-wheel racer. Purchased in Sioux City, Iowa, it was raced in the Midwest under #38, and both the vehicle and driver were N.M.A.R.A. champions in 1969. It later successfully ran throughout the East Coast from Massachusetts to Florida before finding its way into the hands of the current owner, who bough it as a barn find in need of repair. Over two years, the current owner took it from barn find to race ready: he stripped the vehicle down to its frame and undertook a complete restoration. During that time, he repaired the body panels, reworked the engine, re-chromed many parts and added new slicks and dirt tires. This racer currently has disc brakes, a I/O box, a starter for garage and/or pit adjustments. It is powered by a Chevy II with the Iron Duke upgrade, and the current owner has raced it once. According to the consignor, the paint job is great, the car is fast, and it handles wonderfully. The vehicle was authenticated by Kurtis partner Johnny Pawl before his death in 2002. This Kurtis Kraft racer is being auctioned as a package with a custom trailer set up specifically to house this race car. The trailer is a single axle Car Mate Trailer manufactured by Pennstyle Campers. It is 6’ wide x 12’ long with a 2’ frontal for the battery and winch. Vehicle is sold with a bill of sale only; trailer sold with a title.
