Great buy! For the 1969 model year, the SS396 series (138xx VIN
sequence) was dropped and the Super Sport became a performance
option, order code RPO Z25. It could be ordered on the 300 Deluxe
2-dr Sport Coupe, Malibu 2-dr Sport Coupe, Malibu convertible, as
well as the El Camino.� The SS396 equipment package included a
choice of Turbo-Jet 396 V8 with either 325 (L35), 350 (L34), or 375
(L78) horsepower.� In addition, the package included these extra
features; power disc brakes, 7" wide sport-styled wheels, SS
emblems trimmed the exterior front & rear, and inside on the dash
and doors, twin-domed hood and beefed up full coil suspension
complimenting the look and ride quality! This wonderfully optioned
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS396 Hardtop comes finished in Garnet Red
(52 52) over code correct Medium Red (788) Bucket Seat interior and
matching White body side stripe. Options include numbers matching
396ci/325hp V8 engine, floor-shifted TH400 automatic transmission,
bucket seats with center console, power steering, 12-bolt rear end
with factory 3.07 gearing (code CX), power disc brakes, factory air
conditioning (blows cold), 14" Styled SS wheel wrapped in period
Goodyear Custom Wide Tread F70-14 belted tires, all Soft Ray glass,
dual outside mirrors, carpeted SS396 floor mats, and Custom Auto
Sound AM/FM/Aux radio with rear mounted antenna! Under the hood is
the numbers matching and fully rebuilt 396ci Hi Perf engine fitted
with an updated Holley carburetor, full valve job with hardened
exhaust valves seats, new correct camshaft, new water pump & fuel
pump, ceramic-coated exhaust headers mated to a Pypes Street Pro
dual exhaust system with X-pipe and proper chrome tips, MSD
ignition, chrome air cleaner & correct chrome valve covers, correct
heavy duty radiator, and more! This work was professionally
completed by Central Ohio Engine Rebuilders, Inc based in Columbus,
OH.� All original engine components will be included with the sale
of the car.� The transmission was fully serviced by Corvette Corner
in Columbus, OH in 2008.� It has been very nicely detailed
throughout maintaining a very stock appearance overall.� The
drivetrain restoration, repaint, fresh weather stripping, all new
seating upholstery & padding, interior carpet among other vital
components were completed in 2005 while residing in Westerville, OH
and has accumulated 2,850 miles since and continues to perform
wonderfully! This SS396 maintains its original transmission tag
bearing code of CC-69 reflecting a correct 325 horsepower Super
Sport designated transmission, and a date-coded 12-bolt rear axle
of A 6 9 (January 6th, 1969) with SS396-CX code axle ratio.�
According to our cowl tag, this example was officially built the
3rd week of January (01C) of 1969.� All equipment matches the
included Protect-O-Plate for validation.� We couldn't be more
confident of the originality of this Kansas City-built SS396/325hp
Chevelle.� It sold new from Roy Hughes Chevrolet in Bartlesville,
OK in February 1969, and later made its way to Indiana.� One prior
cosmetic restoration was said to have been completed in 1988, then
a mechanical restoration while in the care of an Ohio owner in
2005.� It will come complete with spare tire resting in the trunk
with cover, rubber mat along with all tire changing equipment, and
