Now for sale in our Houston Showroom is this 1928 Ford Pick-up Rat
Rod. A rat rod is a style of hot rod or custom car that, in most
cases, imitates (or exaggerates) the early hot rods of the 1940s,
1950s, and early-1960s. The style is not to be confused with the
somewhat closely related "traditional" hot rod, which is an
accurate re-creation or period-correct restoration of a hot rod
from the same era. Most rat rods appear "unfinished", regardless of
their status, as only the vehicle's bare essentials are driven.
These are built to drive, not exclusively for show. The truck frame
is a Riley auto boxed double Z'd chassis with an 8-inch kick up in
the rear. It also features reinforced cross members for added
structural strength to handle a higher HP drive train which has
been powder coated for longevity. All suspension components are
Pete & Jakes Hotrod parts. It has a more traditional style look
with the front & rear leaf springs for a buggy set up with a Vega
steering box. Powering this sweet rat truck is a 327 CID V8 that is
from a 1963 Chevy Corvette. It has a mild cam, new distributor, new
spark plugs & wires, Holley double pumper 750cfm carb, new water
pump & pulleys, & a new alternator. Coupled to the restored 63'
Vette motor is a Turbo350 3-speed automatic transmission with a
16-inch Lokar shift kit installed. Features a 9-inch Ford rear axle
with 3.50 gears. The engine puts out 300HP to the wheels and for a
truck that weighs a little as this one does, it really makes this
truck get up and move. Bringing this truck to a stop are GM vented
disc brakes in the front and Ford drum brakes in the rear. The
truck sits on 16-inch Vintiques 14 series reproduction wheels
wrapped in Firestone tires. The interior looks very cool as well
featuring the original gauge cluster, 2 nice vinyl bucket seats
that are comfortable, black rubber carpeting, 1950's USAF jet
fighter lap belts/seat belts, stained & polyurethane wood inserts,
& some diamond plating near the firewall. The truck has a new
16-gallon U3 series fuel tank that sits on its wood paneled bed
that is in great condition. The truck has that cool patina finish
that really gives this truck its rat rod DNA. With the gloss black
frame & grill contrasting the polished engine components & the
addition of the wood panels, really makes this truck stand out
against the rest. To see more of this truck on our website, please
