Custom tonneau bed cover, side rails Rear wheels skirts and custom
wheel covers Two vehicles in one, all the comfort and convenience
of a traditional two-door sedan with room for one or two passengers
with the utility of a pickup truck plus a modest hauling/towing
capacity. That summed up Chevrolet's El Camino and we have a 1986
model here at MotoeXotica Classic Cars. Finished in black, the
vehicles paint and trim are in overall good shape, as are the glass
panels, which are intact, haze-free and tinted all around. The El
Camino's lights are in great shape and it rolls on radial tires,
size 215/70R14 at all four corners, surrounding custom wheel
covers. All of the vehicle's body panels are straight and solid.
The cargo bed is in good condition, comes with a custom tonneau
cover and side rails that have a few blemishes visible. This
car/truck hybrid also features rear wheel skirts that may have
either been a factory or dealer option in 1986. The bumpers are in
overall good condition but the top of the rear bumper shows some
blemishes. The engine bay is tidy and the battery looks very good.
Under the hood with the Lund twin hood scoops is a Chevy's 305 CID
small-block V-8 engine, with a custom air cleaner and breathing
through dual exhausts. The engine is mated to a Turbo-Hydramatic
four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Driver
convenience features include power steering, power brakes and tilt
steering column. Inside, the bench seat has been reupholstered in
new black and silver and is in overall good condition. The gray
carpet is in decent order and the complementing headliner also
looks good. The air-conditioning is inoperable but the two-tone
black and gray instrument panel has almost full instrumentation and
shows no cracking or peeling. The original two-spoke steering wheel
is present and in fair condition. The inner door panels look good
and as a whimsical touch, the door lock plungers are topped with
pulls shaped like dice. The mirror glass and gear shifter are both
in good order. Completing the interior is a factory Delco-Bose
AM/FM stereo with cassette deck. The Chevrolet El Caminowas made
between 1959-60 and 1964-87. The 1978 through 1987 El Caminos were
produced in five trim levels: Classic, Black Knight (1978) /Royal
Knight (1979-83), Conquista andSuper Sport and shared chassis
components with theChevrolet Malibu. The 1982 through 1987 El
Camino sported a new frontal appearance with a crosshatch grille
flanked by quad rectangular headlights. For 1985, GM shifted El
Camino production toMexico and the new 4.3L V-6 engine was
standard through 1987. Changes for 1986 included a new instrument
panel and revised gauge cluster graphics. Competition to this
Chevrolet in 1986 included Chevrolet's own S-10 light-duty pickup,
Ford's Ranger pickup, Dodge's Ram 50 pickup, GMC's S-15 pickup,
Mazda's B2000 pickup, Mitsubishi's Mighty Max pickup, Nissan's
Hardbody D21 pickup and Toyota's Hilux pickup. This car is
