Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1997 Chevrolet Corvette
Coupe for purchase. The introduction of the C5 Vette for the 1997
model year was a huge success and with the U.S. economy in a boom,
dealers were selling these faster than the plant in Bowling Green
could keep up. This led to significant dealer markups which allowed
the value of these to rise drastically for the first few years of
production. With 4-wheel independent suspension to go along with
speed sensitive power rack & pinion steering, the handling of the
C5 vette was unmatched by any affordable sports car. The track
times turned in put the Corvette in elite company especially
notable when your comparables are Ferrari & Lamborghini.
This '97 Corvette is a really well maintained fun car to drive that
has been stored inside during the winters and also when not in use
during the summer. The 5.7 v8 was rebuilt and dyno tuned by Baker
Engineering in Nunica, MI. A custom grind cam was built and
installed to cater to the owner's desired sound and driveability. A
new timing chain was installed while the engine was apart. QTP
Quick Time Performance electrical exhaust cut outs were also
installed by Baker Engineering. A shift light was installed and is
set to come on just before the rev limiter (approximately 6,900
RPM). There are receipts totaling over $3,000 for the work that was
done. There is also a copy of the Dyno Printout. The car makes 377
wrhp with 363 ft lbs of torque. After spending money on the engine,
the clutch was next on the list. A Center Force Dual Friction
Clutch and kit were professionally installed. The car has had C5R
fixed halogen racing headlights installed. No wires were cut or
spliced in this process; the original headlights will still plug
right in and are available with the sale. A short shifter was
professionally installed with about one inch throw.
The Corvette received a high rise hood with custom paint job which
cost another $1,800. The car rides on C6 Z06 wheels. In 2014 brand
new tires were installed. The tie rods have been replaced and the
car was laser aligned. This car performs very well and drives tight
and smooth. The car comes with a laminated copy of the original
window sticker and build sheet from the Bowling Green Assembly
plant. The car was never raced or abused and was always taken care
of.
