Road & Track magazine was excited to get their hands on the 1957 Corvette for their road test. "Add fuel injection and get out of the way" was the succinct catch-phrase they used and with good cause. They concluded that the fuel-injected engine is "an absolute jewel, quiet, and remarkably docile when driven gently around town, yet instantly transformable into a roaring brute when pushed hard." Instantaneous throttle response was complemented by being absolutely free of stutter and stumble under any condition.

Chevrolet promised in 1954 that the Corvette was going to be their sports car, and they were in the sports car business to stay. Competition successes in the two years prior to this car were a certain showing of the devotion to the Corvette brand. With this model, even the staunchest Anglophiles had to admit that the Corvette could truly go.

This 1957 "Fuelie" has attained the coveted National Corvette Restorers Society Duntov Mark of Excellence Award twice - once in 2001 and again at the 2006 NCRS Nationals Convention in San Antonio, with a score of 99.6-percent, a nearly unheard of accomplishment. It has multiple NCRS Regional Top Flight awards to its credit with scores of 99, 99.3, and 99.6 in 2005-2006. It also has been awarded two Performance Verifications, most recently in 2005. This exceptional car has received two Bloomington Gold awards, the latest in 2005.

The Corvette also holds two Chevy Vettefest Triple Crown awards, most recently in 2005. This car has also received the Top Gun award for the best original or restored Corvette at Chevy Vettefest 2005 in Chicago. It was nominated and shown at Corvettes at Carlisle in the NCRS Gallery VI for 2006 to represent the 1956-57 model year Corvettes.

This exceptional example retains its original four-speed manual transmission that is properly dated and coded, making it one of only 664 produced that year; the first year a four-speed was offered in a Corvette. The additional cost for this option (code 685) was $188.30. Factory installed power windows (code 426) makes this one of only 379 Corvettes so equipped in 1957. Wonderbar radio, courtesy lights, 4:11 Posi-traction and, of course, the proper fuel injection system, make it one of 713 so-equipped.

With reported matching numbers, this Corvette is claimed to be, by far, one of the best 1957 "Fuelie" Corvettes one could hope to find.
