most recognizable and coveted automobiles of the classic muscle car
era. And when the discussion turns to Chevelles, the big block SS's
are the cars that get the conversation heated and the blood
pumping. These SS's have become so desirable, in fact, that
thousands of clones and tributes now populate the streets. This
gorgeous 1970 Autumn Gold Chevelle SS 396 is NOT one of those cars.
This beauty has been treated to a complete frame-off, nut and bolt
restoration that reportedly consumed over 2,000 man hours and
$80,000! She's powered by a rebuilt, numbers matching, 396/350hp
(vin derivative 1A139909, suffix CTW) that's had the block boiled,
rods reconditioned, new wrist pins and Clevite bearings installed,
and a 3 angle valve job performed with hardened seats installed.
The abundant horsepower is then sent to the original TH400
automatic transmission (A139909), then out to a 12-bolt rear end
with 3.55 gears and Positraction. Additional factory options
include tinted glass (A01), vinyl top (C08), console (D55), special
performance suspension (F41), power front disc brakes (J50, JL2),
hood and deck stripes (D88), and the special inducted hood (cowl
induction; ZL2). An extensive photo journal and the ORIGINAL build
sheet (!) are included. This is a beautiful and correct SS 396
that's more fun to drive than any investment you've ever owned!
