Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1974 Porsche 914 Targa
for purchase. The perfect balance and plenty of fun factor is how
these 914 2.0L's were advertised by Porsche and is still true today
with these fun little two seaters. The 914 offered 3 variations
with the 4 cylinder, the 1.7 and 1.8 were inexpensive enough to
attract the budget buyer, but the person that wanted to save money
but still have a fun car to drive in all gears optioned for the
2.0L that had more low-end power and more total horsepower.
Just out of a private collection, this 3 owner, 1974 Porsche 914
offered here is a wonderful, highly original example with the
exception of one repaint completed an estimated 15 years ago. The
car is finished in its rare, desirable and original factory color,
L96B Alaska Blue Metallic, over a very tidy, original tan interior
with black roof, black side pillars and stripes. History indicates
that the 2.0 liter motor is numbers matching, engine # GA013233,
although we have not pulled a COA. The Other highlights include: 5
speed manual transmission, 914 style Fuchs aluminum wheels, console
with VDO clock, temp and volt gauges, door pocket, square weave
carpet, fog lights, stripe package etc.
The most recent owner purchased this car in 2006 and made every
effort and a large investment to ensure that this 914 was
mechanically fit and a fun car to drive. Today at 56360 miles, this
is one of the best driving 914 2.0 liters that we have had on our
floor. The car starts right up with no smoke, it pulls very strong
in all gears, the suspension is tight and the brakes stop swiftly
and true. In short, this 914 is a blast to drive, a quick an nimble
car that puts a smile on your face as you maneuver through the
twisties. Cosmetically, the paint remains very nice for its age
still showing a deep gloss, this interior is wonderful featuring
excellent original upholstery in all areas and a near perfect dash.
The headlights operate perfectly, the radio works along with all
the gauges as to the turn signals and brake lights, and the
cigarette lighter works to power your favorite device. The
underside and bottom of the car remain original and feature
excellent inner rockers, original floors and an outstanding core
structure. The engine and engine bay are very tidy, like many 2.0
liters, the fuel injection was removed and replaced with a
carburetor, the fuel injection is complete and will be included
with the sale.
The Porsche market continues to surge around the world, and the
Porsche 914's have fallen into favor with collectors and driver
enthusiasts alike. Their handling capabilities rival anything that
is on the road today. The feel and driver feedback is direct
creating a car and driver connection that cannot be duplicated in
todays vehicles. The 2.0 liter is the most desirable of the 4
cylinder 914's, and well kept consistently maintained example such
