Vehicle Description
We have plenty of cars that are ready take home trophies at cars
shows, but this numbers matching 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 is
about as close to ready to win the concours as it can get. This
coupe has been thoroughly restored to such exacting factory
standards that driving it out of our facility will feel like taking
home from the Chevy dealer in 1966.
Get ready for all of your car friends to stand up and take notice
of this one. It's not just that Aztec Bronze is a bold standout
hue. It's also this Chevelle's factory-correct color that has been
painstakingly worked on to look just like the day it was born in
Chevy's Flint facility. The panels are so excellent on this car
that you'll wonder if that factory really ever did make them this
straight. As a true Super Sport coupe, it has a wild streak that
contrasts the paint with dark accents on the blacked-out grille.
Plus, this Chevelle SS still has all the details right - from the
twin intake hood, to the ribbed rocker panels. Even the wheel
package is as it should be with the simulated Mag wheel covers and
redline tires.
There's some serious original documentation that comes with the
car, including the protect-o-plate, warranty card, owner's manual,
and original window sticker. As you pour through this paperwork,
you'll realize that this one came from the factory with the same
options you would have ordered yourself. It's a Strato-Bucket seat
car in bronze vinyl that matches the exterior so nicely. In between
these seats is a center console for the stick shift that also
houses the clock that's still ticking away. And the classic
Chevelle steering wheel gives you a commanding view of all the
gauges, including the very important tach. Does it seem like the
carpets, headliner, and door cards are immaculate? Well that's
because everything was meticulously restored back to factory
standards. Even the AM radio still lives in the center of the dash,
because let's face it, there's something cool about showing off the
original push-button units. Even the trunk is expertly finished
with the correct mat, color-matched spare wheel, and a never used
redline tire for show.
1966 was the year that Chevelle Super Sports really started to live
up to their name. No longer just an appearance package, SS meant
you were getting the big 396 cubic-inch V8. In a car this original,
nothing but a number-matching engine will do. And while it was
originally advertised at 375 horsepower, this one is extra special.
The original owner also purchased high performance heads and an
aluminum intake from GM in 1967. So you have added power over the
other big blocks while also adding to this Chevelle's very unique
story. This big block inhales deeply through a correct Holley
four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with authority from the long
tube headers. And while there is only about 1,000 miles on this
coupe since its restoration, we know you won't be able to resist
adding to the odometer. After all, you have complete control over
the fury and thunderous sound of this big block thanks to the
Muncie four-speed and a Positraction rear end.
This Chevelle SS 396 is so painstakingly factory-correct that
you'll be getting attention from waaaaaay more people than just the
muscle car crowd. Quality and performance like this doesn't stay
long in our showroom. Call now!!!
