Vehicle Description
Very rare, this ZR1 Corvette has less than 25,000 original miles.
It is one of 20 built in 1972. The ZR1 was the heavy-duty version
of the LT1, a high-winding small-block. In addition to the LT1, the
ZR1 package included a manual M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed heavy-duty
transmission, J56 heavy-duty power brakes, J50 power brakes,
transistorized ignition and special heavy-duty aluminum radiator.
The F41 heavy-duty suspension included special springs, shocks and
front and rear sway bars. This car is dressed in Pewter Silver over
Saddle interior. It was purchased new by Albert Stephan from
Rosenthal Chevrolet in Arlington, VA. A three-owner car, it is
loaded with original documentation including the original Virginia
title, Protect-O-Plate, Tank Sticker and inspection receipts which
document its mileage. This car was purchased by a significant
collector from the original owner. This ZR1 was then treated to
world-renown Kevin Mackay of Corvette repair to undergo a complete
frame-off restoration. As many original pieces were retained during
the restoration as could be, including the complete original
interior. Once the restoration commenced, this car went on to
obtain multiple NCRS Top Flight Awards, Bloomington Gold and the
Muscle Car & Triple Diamond Award.
