For sale and featured in our Dallas showroom is a 1967 Ford
Fairlane with a 289 V8. The Fairlane was revised in 1966. The
appearance was changed to match the full-sized Ford, which had been
restyled in the 1965 model year. The front end featured vertically
stacked dual headlights. The XL, GT, and GTA packages were
introduced, as well as a convertible to join the existing range of
sedans, hardtops, and station wagons. This example is a wonderful
driving hardtop coupe all the way around. When this car was
purchased out of California in 2013, it was immediately taken to a
shop and gone over with a fine-tooth comb. The 289 CID V8 and C4 3
speed automatic transmission were pulled from the car. While they
were out, the engine bay, engine, and transmission were all steam
cleaned. The motor and transmission were thoroughly inspected for
mechanical condition and reliability. The oil pan gasket, water
pump, thermostat housing, bypass hose, heater core, instrument
cluster, and lower dash panel were all replaced, and the underdash
wiring was all cleaned up. With the motor still out, the engine
compartment and underside of the car were prepped and painted, the
engine wiring was cleaned up, the power steering rame and hoses
were replaced, the transmission pan gasket was replaced, and the
radiator was boiled out and flow checked, before this great
powerplant was reinstalled back in the car. However, this wasn't
just a mechanical inspection. The rear window trim and glass were
removed, then the moldings were cleaned of glue. The rear package
tray was replaced, and then the rear window was reinstalled with a
new seal, molding clips and moldings. All the lights were checked
and replaced, and a new exhaust was installed from the manifolds
back. Finally, the exterior was cleaned up, emblems were replaced
on the fenders, quarters, and grill, then the fenders and hood were
realigned. Finally, any areas that needed paint touchup were
addressed, and the vehicle received a full polish. All in all, the
goal of this 67 Fairlane was to have a wonderful driver, and that
goal was reached. While the small block Ford is no powerhouse, it
gets the job done, and sounds great doing it. It looks great, and
rides great too. It would make a fine addition to any fleet. To
