Vehicle Description
CRUISIN CLASSICS is very proud to introduce our newest arrival.
This is a very spectacular 1968 Dodge Dart GT Convertible upgraded
to GTS Specifications. Under the hood you will find a true star.
The 340ci Chrysler small Block. Originally a clean Texas GT with a
318 and a column shifted automatic, this car was transformed with
horsepower a stick shift and a bright B5 blue paint. The sheet
metal on the car is all original including the floors and trunk and
is in excellent condition following a cosmetic restoration. Panel
gaps and alignment are factory or better and the paint is glossy
and bright with a deep shine to the base/clear system used. The
builder was shooting for a great driver that could be shown and
enjoyed at the same time. He Nailed It!! The 340 was unique in
Detroit as there weren't any low performance models in that
displacement. Every 340 came with good heads and at least a 4bbl
and a decent cam. It automatically said performance and this cars
engine is no exception. It's original intake was an Edelbrock but
due to technology getting better, it now has a Edelbrock Performer
RPM Air Gap in place and a natural for the 340. The chrome and
other bright pieces were redone during the restoration, while much
of the other trim was properly restored, including the beautiful
grill and headlight surrounds, the GTS specific hood inserts and
the tail panel. Some other honorable mentions include a new vinyl
convertible top (professionally installed) and new chrome latches.
The glass other than the windshield (replaced in 2007) is original
and in outstanding condition with no damage. The transmission is a
4-speed manual in place of the original Torque flight automatic and
that's exactly what you want in a hot cruiser like this one. It's
topped by a Hurst Shifter and it's placement is nothing short of
perfect. Underneath, the bushings and other hardware were replaced
and the steering linkage is new. The factory undercoating was
touched up and ready to go for another 40 years. The deep rumble is
courtesy of a TTI 2.25" true dual exhaust system with Dynomax
mufflers. The 8.75" rear is stuffed full of fresh 3.73 gears for
potent acceleration in this lightweight package. There's a
Sure-Grip in the housing out back and a sway bar up front. Both
items you will find in the majority of the GTS's. The interior is
all fresh with new vinyl, carpet and a wood grain steering wheel to
compliment the shifter. The power steering is a plus that makes
cruising effortless. Out back you will notice the original floors
and the trunk painted in the same shiny blue as the exterior.
Documentation includes an original owners manual and several
decades worth of maintenance receipts on the car dating back to the
70's, as well as a detailed ledger that details the date, mileage
and type of every service that the car has had since that time of
the previous. Receipts for most of the restoration, dated from
2007, are also included. This is certainly a special car that
everybody should appreciate as a car person. This quality is rarely
seen in restorations and should be admired by all.Mileage is N/A.If
