Tremendous investment potential!
By the early 1980's Rolls-Royce had been listening to customer
feedback for a factory specification Silver Spur limousine from a
number of high profile customers. While the factory in Crewe
acknowledged the request, the production staff did not see how such
a model could be constructed alongside the assembly of the
traditional Silver Spur. Rolls-Royce entrusted the production of
the Silver Spur factory limousine to Robert Jankel Design (RJD) in
Weybridge who stretched the Silver Spur chassis under the strict
standards of the Crewe craftsmen. Beginning in 1982, customers
could order a Silver Spur with a 36 inch stretch that featured up
to six doors. The request for even more room and better amenities
resulted in the 42 inch factory stretch for 1985, a model that
would only be available until 1989. Only nine 42 inch stretch
factory Silver Spur limousines would be constructed for the first
production year. These lavish vehicles featured an electric
division window, rear entertainment system, an intercom system for
driver-passenger communication and an optional moonroof. With such
limited production and a nearly $200,000 price tag, the RJD Silver
Spur limousines are some of the most coveted Rolls-Royces ever
constructed and are highly sought after by collectors and
enthusiasts today.
The incredibly rare 1985 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Factory Limousine
featured here is finished in stunning Garnet with a beautiful Tan
Vaumol interior. Of the nine built, this magnificent motorcar has
been driven just 14,439 miles and is among one of the lowest mile
examples known to exist. It was recently acquired in Southern
California where it spent most of its life. Since this Silver Spur
occasionally resided outside of a large estate in Beverly Hills,
the sun has delaminated some of the wood. Although the leather is
still soft and supple, it is faded and would benefit from being
resprayed/redyed. Accompanying this Silver Spur is its
original window sticker, owner’s manual, service booklet and much
more. This is an incredible opportunity for a collector, investor
or enthusiast who wants to acquire an extremely rare Rolls-Royce
factory limousine and bring it back to its original cosmetic
condition while providing a tremendous investment opportunity for
another owner. Classic cars have proven to be among the most
resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the
Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and
posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Ready to make
