Gateway Classic Cars' Houston Showroom is proud to offer this 1978
Pontiac Trans Am. Changes for 1978 were slight, with a switch from
a honeycomb to a crosshatch pattern grille being the most obvious
from the outside. The engineers also revised the compression ratio
in the 400ci through the installation of different cylinder heads
with smaller combustion chambers. This increased power by 10% for a
total of 220 during the 1978-79 model years. The 400/403 options
remained available until 1979, when the 400 CID engines were only
available in the 4-speed transmission Trans Ams and Formulas. Shown
in a clean and recent midnight blue paint job that shows very well.
This original 400 CID V8 WC code TA has a new intake manifold newly
rebuilt carburetor. The 6.6L motor is mated to a turbo hydramatic
350 3-speed automatic transmission that has a B&M transpack &
2500 rpm stall converter, so she is ready to ride and hit the
streets. The 400 CID V8 was rebuilt & bored over .030 over & had
several goodies added to it at that time. Including parts such as;
forged pistons, a Crane cam, performance intake manifold, a 750cfm
Holley carburetor, Flowtech long tube headers, & Flowmaster super
40 mufflers. The car has new rear tires with less than 50 miles on
them as well as other maintenance items like a new power steering
pump, hoses & gearbox, new brake calipers, wheel cylinders,
alternator & valve covers. Options include: AM/FM radio, cd player,
power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel, seat belts. For more
