Vehicle Description

Vehicle to be offered for sale June 2-4th, 2017 at Russo and Steele\'s 5th Annual Newport Beach California Auction. Please contact us for more information.\r\n\r\nThe 1955 Chevrolet passenger car line is all new for this year. Offering all new and Motoramic styling, improved handling and a new overhead valve V8 engine. To deliver this all-new smooth and dependable V8 power, much has been changed for the chassis and suspension like a longer chassis, wider rear springs, diagonally-mounted shock absorbers and improved Glide Ride front suspension with coil springs, unequal length a-arms, and new spherical joint geometry. These first two paragraphs are from the original sales brochure that was available at any Chevy dealer across the country. This all-new car line-up was very exciting news for people looking to purchase the newest vehicle design in the lower-priced field. These cars offered great value to their customers. Over sixty years later, enthusiasts still feel the same about the 1955 Chevy. They have stood the test of time, arguably much more popular now than they were when new. This spectacular example is the Bel Air Nomad. It was the top-of-the-line station wagon for Chevrolet this year. A mere 8,386 cars were sold to proud new owners for the entire model year. This particular car has been a California resident since the 1960s, and even has the black plates to prove it! Sympathetically restored in 2004 and with freshening up as needed since then, this beautiful car has always received the best of care with its current owner. \r\n\r\nRestored in the original style but utilizing a larger 283 cubic inch displacement small block Chevy engine from a 1961 Chevrolet, a Powerglide automatic transmission and factory power steering and brakes make the car fun and easy to drive. The exterior features the striking color scheme of Tartan Turquoise and Indian Ivory. All of the exterior trim has been lovingly restored including the grille guard, front bumper guards, and fender guards. The rocker moldings are reproductions. The diecast six piece door, fender, and eyebrow trim are restored OEM pieces. Slip inside the matching turquoise and white interior and See the USA in your Chevrolet through the E-Z Eye Glass. This car is guaranteed to garner attention wherever you take it. All it needs is a new owner to continue enjoying this classic Nomad as it should be - out on the open road/p
