GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this one owner, low mile,
1979 Mercedes-Benz 450SLC for purchase. The LC class has been a top
luxury / sports line of production cars for decades producing
ahead-of-pack features, comforts and performance. The R107 model SL
came on the automotive scene in 1972. With the debut of an all new
V8 engine in this lineup, the 450SL was larger and produced a much
more modern ride than its Pagoda predecessor. The suspension is
fully independent and 4-wheel disc brakes came standard. The SLC,
commonly referred to as an SL coupe, was the first total SL coupe
that Mercedes offered since the original SL, the 300SL Gullwing.
The R107 SLC's are very similar in appearance to the hard-top
equipped convertibles, though they have a taller roofline and were
14 inches longer due to the usable rear seat.
The 1979 Mercedes SLC coupe offered here was purchased new by the
current owner as a company car from Ed Mathieu Imports, Inc. of
Chicago, IL on March 27, 1979. The car came finished in Milan Brown
Metallic exterior paint over a two tone interior and powered by the
spirited 4.5 liter V8, automatic transmission and rear wheel drive.
At 59408 miles, the car remains in excellent original condition.
The exterior paint appears to be and is believed to be 100 percent
original and shows just appropriate patina for its age, the
original interior is outstanding featuring excellent original
seats, near perfect dash, excellent wood and very nice trim
throughout. Mechanically, this 450sl was recently serviced, runs
and drives great, all lights work, power windows roll up and down
as it should, gauges work, heat and fan work as they should.
Overall, This is a very original, one owner example of a rare
classic SLC Mercedes Benz with a very attractive appearance and
sound mechanicals. Car comes complete with all original books and
manuals, original plastic sheath, original tool roll, 3 keys,
spare, jack etc. Recent service includes: new distributer cap, new
rotor, valve cover gaskets, air filter, oil and filter.
