Vehicle Description
This 1969 Mercury Cougar Convertible is an eye-catching classic
drop-top that is a very nicely restored example. Finished in
mile-deep Red Metallic with White Soft Top and White Interior - A
great looking car that has been pampered its entire life. It is
powered by a 351-cubic inch V8 Engine with Automatic Trans.
Odometer shows 55,102 (believed accurate and correct). Power
Softtop with Boot Cover, Hide-Away Headlights, Sequential Turn
Signals, Center Console, Power Brakes. '69 was the first year for
drop-top Cougars. The grille switched from vertical bars to
horizontal bars. Tail lights still spanned the entire rear of the
car and retained vertical chrome dividers, but were now concave
rather than convex. Body sides now featured a prominent line that
swept downward from the nose to just ahead of the rear wheel wells.
Whether you are looking for a cool car to cruise around town in, or
a car to take to some shows this classic cat is sure to please. The
Cougar certainly has all the right muscle car details for the era,
and it walks with big cat swagger. The styling is Mustang-sized,
but it's a little more sophisticated - from the subtle body crease
running from the front fender, to the rear wheel opening, to the
hidden headlights that were definitely more Lincoln than Ford. A
few extra dollops of chrome, including the gorgeous sequential
taillights with their chrome surrounds, and this car manages to
look both sporting and elegant at the same time. There is a feeling
of premium the moment you sit in the driver's seat. The factory
built these comfortable buckets with headrests, and it feels like
1969 all over again thanks to a center console, three-spoke
steering wheel, round gauges, and that V8 engine's rumble -- it's
the perfect blend of luxury and performance.Power for the big cat
comes from a 351 cubic-inch V8, which is a perfect fit in the
Cougar's engine bay and gives the car great performance without the
big block weight. The presentation is quite stock with the big blue
air cleaner sitting on top of the big blue block. The four-barrel
carburetor helps the 351 deliver a healthy dose of smooth torque,
which means that the Cougar is never caught flat-footed.
Underneath, the chassis is clean and well-maintained, with a
great-sounding dual exhaust system whose tips are just barely
visible beneath the rear valence -- again, emphasizing the Cougar's
subtle muscularity. Add in a three-speed automatic transmission,
power steering, and the grip of modern tires, and you've got a
total package worthy of the Cougar name. This gorgeous machine is
ready to be cruised or shown and does not disappoint! Any 1969
Cougar is becoming an increasingly rare sight, but a convertible
1969 Cougar in this fine example's excellent overall condition is
the find of a lifetime. Do not miss the opportunity to acquire this
truly investment grade automobile. For more information on this
