Rolls Royce introduced the Corniche in 1971 and offered it as a
drophead coupe (convertible) which would remain largely unchanged
in the lineup through 1995. However, what many often aren't aware
of is that Rolls-Royce also quietly produced a fixed head coupe
version of the Corniche that is even rarer than the coachbuilt
convertible. Rolls-Royce built the coupe model through a ten year
span from 1971 through 1981 only producing 1,108 units making it a
highly collectible automobile by today's standards.
This example marks an evolution as the Corniche received a mild
restyling in the spring of 1977 that included rack-and-pinion
steering, an aluminum radiator, oil cooler, bi-level air and more.
Powered by a 6.75-liter V-8 engine which is paired to a three-speed
automatic transmission; despite its weight the car could still
achieve a 120 mph top speed, and a zero to 60 mph in less than ten
seconds. The luxury is undeniable on this uncommon fixed head
version. With a nice single shade finish this example presents
beautifully with its original interior that features air
conditioning as well with many luxuries that one would expect from
a Rolls-Royce. The current owner purchased this car from the
original owner and has had it regularly serviced throughout its
lifetime by Rolls-Royce marque specialists at Scott Motors of Los
Angeles, California, making it a well maintained example ready to
be enjoyed.
