Sidney Allard founded the Allard Motor Company in 1946. Allard had been building competitive race cars since the mid 1930's and had some success using American flathead V8 engines coupled with his own cylinder heads and intake manifolds. The predecessor to the K2 was the J2X sports racer that utilized a Cadillac engine with an English alloy body.
Allard introduced the K2 in 1950 making refinements to the K1. The K2's grill was fashioned after the Healey and larger bumpers were designed to help cushion the impact in case of a collision. The two-seater left-hand drive K2 had a small space for luggage. Allard produced 119 examples of the lightweight yet powerful K2 Allard from 1950-1952.
