Vehicle Description
It is nearly impossible to find a first-gen 1971 Datsun 240Z for an
affordable price, so this one is already attractive. And then when
you see that all the great original spirit of the drivetrain and
design have been kept, but now with a few modern upgrades to makes
this classic a standout in any crowd.
The 240Z did come in silver, but you know it never had the deep
tones you see on this one. That's because this Z car has had a full
professional respray that gives it terrific metallic tones that
really pop in the sunshine. But as much as this is a custom look,
it does not betray the original spirit that made this a legend. You
can see it on everything from Jaguar E-Type silhouette right down
to the factory-style Mag wheel upgrade with Z center caps. But what
Datsun/Nissan fans really know to look for is the trim. The vents
below the rear window and emblems on the c-pillar are unique to
these very early Z-cars. Having these rare detail correct will
already gets you respect and distinction from the Z community.
The original Z-car was made for two, and this one sports inviting
buckets inside a nicely preserved interior. And we love how the
metallic blue just seems like that perfect 1970s performance color.
In true Japanese fashion, they took what was already great about
contemporary sports cars and enhanced it with user-friendly design
and exceptional reliability. As a result, the cockpit talks
directly to the driver with no interference from quirky ergonomics
or heavy control actions. Instead, the speedo and tach are set into
twin round pods with a trio of auxiliary dials set up high on the
dash. Plus, the factory thin three-spoke steering wheel is a nice
tribute to the best that Europe had to offer. This one also has
some nice upgrades with everything from a leather dash cover to a
Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo. And since this is the ideal car for
rolling down the windows and enjoying a long drive, there's modern
R134a air conditioning to make sure you can do this all summer
long.
Under the hood it's as nicely preserved and maintained as the rest
of this coupe. Datsun's 2.4-liter inline six-cylinder has always
looked great with its long block filling the long engine bay. This
powerplant has been serviced properly, including a newer aluminum
radiator. All of this is to help ensure that this motor reliably
upholds the 240Zs reputation for delivering rev-happy performance.
This is the car that helped make Datsun a household name by
delivering the excitement of a European on the road with easy
everyday livability. That's why you get a car with a lively fully
independent suspension, a three-speed automatic transmission, and
front disc brakes.
Complete with the original warranty card, original SU carbs,
owner's manual, build receipts, and maintenance records, this is an
ultra-desirable first-gen Z with all the right paperwork. So when
it's also this affordable, you know it won't wait for long. Call
