Vehicle Description
This fabulous driving, collector-owned and maintained car is in
outstanding condition. It underwent a complete cosmetic and
mechanical restoration. The tidy engine bay and undercarriage tell
the story of meticulous long-term care, with no rust. The
brightwork is outstanding. Easy-starting and smooth-running, this
Austin-Healey is powered by a 2.9-liter engine with 4-speed manual
transmission. A new brake booster and master cylinder were
completed this year. The spare jack and original tools are
included. The 3000 MK III was launched in October 1963, and
remained in production until the end of 1967, when production of
Austin-Healeys finally ceased. Classified as the BJ8, the new model
was the most powerful and luxurious of the big Healeys, with
walnut-veneer dash, wind-up windows and 150hp engine. Improvements
to the engine include a new camshaft and valve springs, and twin
SU2 HD8 carburetors, together with a newly designed exhaust system.
Servo-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. Only 2+2 seat
versions were made. In May 1964, Phase II version of the MK II was
released, which had a modified rear chassis to allow rear ground
clearance to be increased.
