Vehicle Description
Featured in the May 1959 issue of Rodding and Restyling, this
all-steel, time-capsule-preserved hot rod known as the "John Otis
Sedan" was built in Massachusetts in the mid-1950s. It's also been
featured in the April 1963 issue of Popular Hot Rodding and on the
cover of the August 1963 issue of Car Craft. Although many of the
trophies have been lost along the way, those that remain with the
car are included in the sale, as are the original cycle fenders
seen in some of the period pictures but not currently mounted. Also
included are a few of the original magazines in which the sedan was
featured. In the last number of years, the car has been extensively
mechanically restored and is an excellent and reliable cruiser.
Extra care was taken to preserve the patina and originality of this
car, so a sympathetic cosmetic restoration was performed where
needed. Features include a 1955 Chevrolet 265ci V8 engine, three
Rochester 2-barrel carburetors, ported heads, polished Offenhauser
intake manifold and a 1939 Ford 3-speed transmission with Lincoln
Zephyr gears.
