Vehicle Description
This 440ci U-code Charger Rallye has a very unique history. Known
as the "CIA Charger" in the Mopar world, this example recently came
out of a private collection. It was purchased new as a
special-order export delivery for the CIA Deputy Station Chief, Mr.
Dino J. Pionzio, and shipped to the American Embassy in Bogota,
Colombia, in May 1972. Then in 1974, the car was shipped back to
CIA headquarters in Mclean, VA waiting for his next assignment. The
car was then shipped with him over to London, England for two years
and returned back to Mclean, VA in 1977. This Charger Rallye is
powered by its original 440ci U-code V8 engine mated to an
automatic transmission and a 3.55 performance axle. Sold through
Trail Dodge in Miami, FL, it was ordered fully loaded with all the
options including air conditioning, power windows, power disc
brakes and rear defogger. Finished in the high-impact color of Top
Banana, it also features hidden headlamps, updated with Lo-Jack and
comes complete with receipts for recent work done. Documentation
includes Window Sticker, Build/Broadcast Sheet, Fender Tag and
export paperwork to American Embassy in Bogota, Colombia. A very
unique muscle car with an amazing history. Winner of the 2017 New
England Concours de la gance. Award ribbon included.
