The intricacy of the entire design of the fabulous 2008 Porsche 911
GT2 was described throughout the Porsche factory brochure that
stood alone for this model and counted over 100 pages in
presentation. Brochure? It really is more of a book that goes into
the drivetrain, chassis, safety, comfort, personalization,
technical data, summary, and more. It is concluded that with the
2008 Porsche 911 GT2, your only weakness will be the strength of
your resolve to push this machine as intended.
The Porsche 911 GT2 was said by the factory to be "the exception to
the rule." It clearly exceeded everything that had gone before.
Porsche disclosed that "designing a 911 GT2 requires a new approach
to old ideas." It meant that the designers and engineers had to
question convention, cross the limits, and think beyond the norm.
They remained committed to not limiting the car to road or track,
straight or bend, comfort or sports performance. It meant having
the freedom to leave what was known and explore new possibilities.
When all was accomplished and the Porsche 911 GT2 was released to
the public, it was the most powerful road-going 911 ever
offered.
The source of the power is the 530 horsepower, 3.6-liter flat
six-cylinder "boxer" engine that is dry sump, twin-turbocharged
with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) that allows faster response at
lower speeds, VarioCam Plus, and an expansion intake system. For
many, these state-of-the-art mechanical features will mean little
without proper research, but all will become quite clear on the
road. It provides a driving experience and engine sound that could
only be conceived in the 911 GT2.
The rear-wheel drive is provided through a six-speed manual
transmission and the dynamics are reported to be similar to what
one would experience in a race car. Among the many performance
standards is Launch Assistant for maximum acceleration from a
standing start, Porsche Active Suspension Management that provides
variable damping for a sporty, yet comfortable drive, Porsche
Stability Management to control lateral and longitudinal dynamics
with Safety Control and Traction Control that can be disabled in
two stages for a "natural" driving experience. This means that the
car can be enjoyed to maximum effect on the race track or the road
should you possess the skills.
Racing developed, and standard on the 911 GT2, are fantastic
Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (four-wheel disc) that are made
from specially treated carbon fiber and nearly 50-percent lighter
than the comparable metal alternatives. Sport bucket seats provide
the perfect seating position that is essential in a machine with
the performance capabilities of the 911 GT2.
These items only scratch the surface of the many extras that are
standard on the 911 GT2 platform. Power, torque, and acceleration
are all in plentiful supply. Nothing can match the energy, except
the car's design. A single glance is all it takes to realize the
fact. Aerodynamic considerations create a very low drag coefficient
as well as positive front and rear downforce. Behind the wheel,
you'll find better grip, better directional stability and
exceptional handling.
This is an unmodified example that is original throughout and has
convenience features that include air conditioning, AM/FM/CD; power
windows, steering, and brakes. The odometer displays less than
8,000 original miles, books are included, and the colors are
reported to be a rare combination of Carrera White over black.
One of approximately 200 Porsche 911 GT2's brought into the United
States in 2008; this is a breathtaking driving machine that is a
technical and mechanical tour de force. Porsche pushed their limits
in creating this respected piece of equipment; now is the time to
discover yours. Respect required - the 911 GT2.
