For Sale: 1973 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 in Guilford, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

For sale is our 1973 Z28 Camaro. This is a numbers matching Z28 optioned car with the original 350 and TH400 transmission. Engine, tranny and rear have low mileage since being rebuilt in late 80's; I have many receipts of work done over the past 32 years of ownership. Car is in need of body prep and repairs. The floors and rocker panels are in very good condition as well as underbody parts. With some body panel work and a good paint job this amazing classic can be brought back to original form; or enjoy now and paint as is with a clear coat for a muscle car resto/driver that turns heads just the same. The body panel primer and rattle can paint have not changed since tinkering with this in high school and college. I stopped working on it and planned a proper paint job that has never materialized. Original color is green with white stripes and a black vinyl top. I have maintained insurance and registration/taxes for all years of ownership. The car starts right up. It does leak a little oil here and there but will clean up nice without a major tear down. Interior is clean, has the factory A/C controls, B&M star shifter, original 130 mph speedometer and 7,000 RPM tachometer gauge package. I have an in-dash AM/FM 8-track player as well for nostalgia sake (not installed). Original TH400 3-spd automatic was professionally rebuilt and a mild shift kit added which still shifts firm and will bark the tires going into second when asked; transmission rear seal leaks due to sitting and age. Stall speed torque converter is stock. A 12 bolt posi-trac rear with 4.11 Richmond gears is in back (not original to car) and a fantastic upgrade to this driver. Engine runs strong, sounds great, and idles well with a classic V8 rumble. Car drives nice and is very comfortable to ride in.  I had it on the hi-way last week while taking it for an hour cruise around town.  Original factory performance features include Windage tray and oil pan baffles, 4 bolt mains, forged crank and connecting rods, 2.02" heads with push rod guide plates. Aftermarket parts include aluminum performer dual plane intake with Holly 4 barrel carburetor, headers and dual exhaust with H-pipe. This car has been garaged for the past 25 years and driven a few times each year. Rear leaf springs and bushings have been replaced.  It has not seen rain or snow for 25 yrs. 1973 was the first year the Z28 was available with A/C and this car originally had it. Prior to my ownership, it was removed and the fire wall capped off (seen to the left of ignition coil in photos). I have a complete factory A/C housing and fan blower system with duct work, compressor/brackets pulled from a 1973 Camaro that could be rebuilt and re-installed during restoration if you choose. This is a fantastic opportunity to own and drive, or restore, an original numbers matching classic muscle car today. There are few remaining "numbers matching" Z28's of this era left to restore so don't delay. This is the first posting of this Z28 for sale since a CT bargain news ad in 1985!  Thanks for looking.
