rust-free 1973 VW Thing is a very rare example from the first year
these fun and funky VWs were imported into the USA. Riding on 4 new
tires, this Thing has been completely disassembled and painted Gray
Metallic inside and out. Highlights include 1,735 cc 4-cylinder
engine with dual Webers and a custom stainless and powder-coated
exhaust system costing 2,000. Other great features include an
engine oil cooler with electric fan, Gene Berg short shifter, front
disc brakes, factory gas heater, Freeway Flyer transaxle, all new
lights and lenses, accessory oil-pressure gauge, and AM/FM stereo
CD player with 4 speakers. Other items include a complete VW tool
kit, side curtain storage pouch, original jack, spare tire and hold
down bracket, HD CV joints, a custom adjustable front beam, and 4
new Bilstein shocks. This Thing is ready to go and fun, with over
30K invested in the restoration./p
