information.\r\n\r\nRecords for this car date back to 2010 when
Rick Perry of El Cajon, CA began an earnest conversion of a street
Sting Ray for racing purposes. Much time was spent getting the
suspension just right with many handwritten notes documenting the
settings used. In early January, 2012 the car benefitted from a
complete engine overhaul. The 383 small-block Chevy engine received
JE pistons, a SCAT crank, Crower rods, and AFR cylinder heads
giving the car a respectable 12.5 compression ratio and a little
over 600 bhp. A solid roller cam and roller rockers were used to
handle the added power. An Edelbrock intake manifold, equipped with
a Holley double-pumper 4-bbl carburetor, provides the fuel. A
custom 3-inch exhaust system lets it all breathe properly. All
systems are monitored by a full complement of racing
gauges.\r\n\r\nA Tilton 7 dual-disc clutch and hydraulic throwout
bearing connect the Tex Racing NASCAR 4-speed transmission to the
engine and 4.11 Posi Corvette rear end to make the most efficient
use of the 600-plus hp. Cooling is provided via an FSR radiator and
electric fan. Transmission gear ratios are 1st-2.191, 2nd-1.731,
3rd1.541 and 4th 1.0.\r\nStopping is provided via Baer 13
competition disc brakes with dual Tilton master cylinders and
dash-mounted brake balance adjustment. Custom 16X12 rims are fitted
with Hoosier road racing slicks. Suspension is courtesy of Penske
racing shocks front and rear and Eibach competition springs. Many
spare parts as well as records and receipts, two extra sets of
wheels and a brand new set of Hoosier tires accompany the car.
