For Sale: 1975 Bricklin SV 1 in Sidney, British Columbia

Vehicle Description

For Sale is my 1975 Bricklin, # 1758, in good condition. Currently has BC collector plates, licenced and running/driving. I will post a more detailed description soon. What it needs most of all is somebody to give it a little TLC.

Price is $10,000 USD .

I recently sold my 1963 UNIMOG 404, my 1968 Lotus 7 and my 23' Sea Ray! I injured my neck in DEc 2016, fracturing the C1, C2, T2 and T3 vertebra, while body-surfing in Australia. I still own a 19' Sunrunner, the '75 Bricklin, a '80 TR8, a '53 MG-TD (being restored), and a couple of other small Triumphs, all of which eventually 'HAVE TO GO' according to 'she who must be obeyed', as the neurosurgeon has decreed that vintgae-car-maintenance-related activities are contra-indicated for the foreseeable future.

I can deliver this vehicle to the Canada side of the Peace Arch USA border crossing in WA. Buyer will be responsible for USA 'entry' arrangements.

The Bricklin SV-1 was a unique sports car with gull-wing doors that was built for the U.S. market at a New Brunswick, Canada plant. Just like the De Lorean, it was only produced a few years (1974/5/6; so I really don't know how somebody else can be advertising a for sale?) before the Bricklin Vehicle Corporation went into receivership, mid 1976. The "SV-1" stood for "Safety Vehicle One" and represented the many safety features that the Bricklin offered even though it was a 'sports car'.

Though Malcolm Bricklin had good intentions and ideas, he lacked the resources to carry through with his plan. The Bricklin models that survived are rare finds today, but still offer car fans a glimpse into 1970s innovation.

This vehicle still has the original radio, with 'digital clock'. It also has a Sirius/XM aerial mounted on the roof, with a Sirius docking station mounted above the dash (sorry, no active Sirius receiver unit). A professional electronics tech added an 'aux input' dongle and cutover switch to the radio for the Sirius input. Speakers mounted in rear side-panels behind the seats.

It has the pneumatic 'air' door system and the door control switches have been re-located to the instrument panel (avoids having the doors opening unexpectedly while driving due to over-inquisitive passenger's fingers). Auxilliary ViAir, 120 psi, heavy duty air pump 'added' to supplement the standard air pump, with additional tyre-valve-type input next to rear number-plate to 'charge the system' (when all else fails, which it eventually will!).

Original steering wheel (leather 'recovered') and original 'turbine' wheel rims, with brand new 'period correct' BFGoodrich ATs (less than 200 Km). Seats and interior trim and carpeting are 'original'; some staina, but no rips or tears.

New fuel pump and inline fuel filter installed, and lines blown clean, as the fuel pump stopped working while the car sat idle for 6 months while my neck healed and I was not allowed to 'do anything'!

Windows in both doors need new track and attention to the winder mechanisms; very stiff.

New water pump, fan and fan-clutch. Air conditioning system 'disabled' as it is impossible to get re-charged in Canada. All original A/C parts come with the car. New alternator, new fan clutch & blade assy.

Speedo recently overhauled by USA specialist. The Bricklin uses a very rare VDO unit (of course!), and finding anybody that could actually do the work at a cost lower than buying a new leg was a challenge! All gauges in working condition.

There is a hairline stress crack on the hood, about 10" back, in the centre, just to the left of the dark shadow in the pics(me). All other body panels in excellent condition.

The acrylic panel on the top-left-rear of the right door is parting slightly, but only needs to be clamped with some epoxy injected into the gap. See pics.

Full front-end 'steering' overhaul (less than 500Km ago) by Sidney Tire; ball joints, tie-rod ends, 'rubber' and wheel alignment.

Also included: Full manuals (books and many e-docs) and some 'odd spares' (switches, NEW DOOR SILLS, window trim pieces, rear hatch glass, ...) and a brand new high quality car cover!
