information. \r\n\r\nWithout doubt, Carroll Shelby\'s thundering AC
Ace-derived Cobra remains the single most important American
performance icon of the 20th Century. As the tip of the spear that
vaulted Ford Motor Company\'s Total Performance corporate racing
program onto the international stage during the early 1960s, the
Cobra marked a crucial step in Ford\'s eventual dominance over
archrival Ferrari. Stateside, the Cobra - initially with 289
small-block power - quickly ruled SCCA road-racing competition,
with Shelby\'s ace drivers Dave MacDonald and Ken Miles beating the
Corvette contingent to take a 1-2 victory at Riverside in January
1963. Quickly redeveloped into ultimate big-block form with 427
power by Ken Miles, the Cobra continued its winning ways through
1973, followed by countless wins in historic racing ever since.
Even by today\'s jaded standards, the 427 Cobra\'s brutal
performance, menacing presence, and unforgettably visceral driving
experience combine in a sensory overload that cannot be duplicated
and must be experienced by anyone claiming to be a true sports-car
enthusiast. Expensive and highly coveted when new, Shelby\'s
big-block Cobras were never truly mass-produced, with demand far
outstripping available supply. Since Shelby production ceased,
hard-core enthusiasts seeking the ultimate power trip fuelled
demand for new Cobras, a trend that continues today.\r\n \r\nThis
top-notch Factory Five Racing 1965 Cobra Replica is an outstanding
case in point and a thrilling find at No Reserve. Based on a stout
Factory Five Racing chassis and featuring body and paint work with
more than 5,000 man-hours alone, this stunning Cobra is powered by
a blueprinted 2005 GM LS2 V-8 engine based on an all-aluminum
cylinder block and heads, tritium rods, 247 heads, breathing deeply
through twin 60-mm turbochargers with intercooling and a Chevy
computer management tuning system. Power output is massive, with
822 horsepower to the rear wheels on readily available 94-octane
pump gas with 8 lbs to 14 lbs of turbo boost on tap. A 6-speed
Tremec manual transmission with a dual-disc clutch delivers the
power to a 3-link rear suspension system locating an 8.8-inch rear
end with 3.231 gears and Moser axles.\r\n \r\nThe Cobra\'s
businesslike cockpit features a custom Classic Instruments gauge
cluster, quick-release wood grain steering wheel, hidden kill
switch, air conditioning and heat, a roll bar and 5-point
harnesses. Driving dynamics are incredible, in keeping with the
Cobra\'s awesome forward thrust, thanks to 4-wheel Wilwood manual
disc brakes, precise power rack-and-pinion steering gear,
adjustable coil over shocks, and Hoosier racing tires measuring 295
X 18 front and 330 X 19 rear on ZR magnesium rims. Fuel is
delivered from an 11.4-gallon tank and an additional fuel pump
kicks in at full boost. The Cobra\'s fuel economy is surprisingly
good with 24 to 27 MPG on the freeway with a light touch on the
accelerator pedal according to the Consignor. Topping it all off is
a very special, scratch-resistant five-point clear coat system
covered by a transferable 2-year warranty.\r\nWhile this car is
certainly not intended for amateur drivers with its incredible
