1979 GMC SIERRA CLASSIC - SPECIAL FACTORY OPTIONS
ATTENTION: SERIOUS CLASSIC TRUCK COLLECTORS
This is a fully loaded, nearly pristine interior/exterior 1979 GMC Sierra Classic K1500 deluxe package with factory extras, 69,000 actual miles, one family ownership, extremely light use, garaged most of it's life, and a meticulous and pampered history of maintenance and care. It was dad's new in 1979.
That dad was fussy with this GMC is an understatement. I was driving grain trucks at our farm by the age of 10. I've always had a perfect driving record and took as much care of my vehicles as he did. I was 30 when dad bought this truck. Even so, I was not allowed to drive his "Baby" while he was alive. No one drove this truck but him.
Initially, Dad used it for a brief time for his short in-town work commute, but then stored it and only took it out on rare occaisions when he needed it's brief use as a pickup for special tasks. Even when used as a truck, it was always for light, limited use. I've also had it out for brief duties four or five times over the years but otherwise it's been in protected storage.
Just about all of it's miles are highway miles. It's never had to work hard. It's never been abused. It's always been pampered and sheltered.
Other than the usual replacement parts for normal maintenance and a new windshield, there has been absolutely NO restoration work done on this truck. It's all original. And even with it's age, use, and minor imperfections, it would look perfectly at home in any new truck showroom. Close inspection is the only way to find the few minor body blemishes it has from it's brief stints outdoors and limited tours of active duty. Those small number of minor body panel blemishes are barely noticeable and not at all obvious except by up-close inspection
Virtually all body panels are orginal factory paint and have zero rust.
The only two rust issues are on the cargo floor behind the wheel wells next to the tailgate. The only other serious rust issues are on the after-market toolbox. Unfortunately the toolbox hasn't aged as well as the truck.
Since it's such an overall unique and therefore rare representative of the very best of the GMC Sierra Classic line, been so well cared for and maintained, sheltered nearly it's entire life, had what can only be called minimal and careful use, and in such exceptional original factory condition, I wanted to restore this truck myself. Restoration would involve the undercarriage, engine compartment, truck box interior surfaces, muffler and tailpipe, and correcting a few minor body panel and trim flaws, . . . and the toolbox if kept with the truck.
The plush interior is near-perfect, original factory condition as is.
Unfortunately, other priorities, an impending move, the lack of time, and the lack of storage space no longer makes it possible for me to keep it and finish restoration myself.
I forgot to run it periodically after I parked it in it's own stall when we moved into our current home in late 2013. It sat unused for 3 years but fired right up when I decided to sell it and ran it out for it's first hand wash in a very long time. Beyond washing it, I simply had to clean the glass and mirrors to ready it for pictures. The interior needed no attention whatsoever.
It runs great. It's an absolute joy to drive. It always attracts attention whenever it's out and about.
I invite the serious truck collector who appreciates exceptionally well-cared for, loaded, extremely rare versions of factory extras, all original, top-of-the-line-model GMC classics to purchase this truck, perhaps restore it's few areas needing attention, and either way, continue it's pampered care.
It needs another good owner and home.
