Powered by an air cooled twin carb 1600cc OHV flat four engine, its

manual transmission. Front disk and rear drum brakes are up to the
task when called upon to shut it down. Considering the car barely
weighs 1500 lbs and rolls on four wheel independent suspension it
is plenty quick, but its not so much about the speed as it is the
connection this car makes between the road and the operator. You
don't just drive this car you dance with it.
Even if you were lucky enough to own a genuine Speedster, and I
know a few guys who do, it is just too valuable of a car to drive
frequently, take to the grocery, leave parked at the mall or risk
getting caught in the rain. It should be no surprise to learn that
some of those guys might just keep one of these in the garage to
get their Speedster fix without a worry. I have a 320 horsepower
911 Carrera that I drive every day, but its joy riding in the
Speedster that I day dream about in traffic.
