GR Auto gallery is pleased to present this 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS
for purchase. The Impala SS brought a performance aspect to the
family sedan and Chevrolet garnered street cred by stuffing a
Corvette based LT1 5.7L V8 under the hood. From a mechanical
standpoint, it used the Caprice 9C1 police package as its base and
got most of its equipment that was previously only available to law
enforcement & government agencies. This included a sport-tuned
suspension with reinforced shocks & springs, a high-capacity
reverse flow cooling system, larger four-wheel disc brakes, limited
slip differential, transmission cooler, dual exhaust, and a higher
output electrical system. To make it standout as not the typical
Caprice, Chevrolet added slick 17" alloy wheels, suppressed "Impala
SS" scripts on the rear quarter panels, and three distinct colors
which varied over the three years the SS was produced.
This two owner 1996 Impala SS is exceptionally clean, both inside
and out. Its Black Cherry Metallic paint is offset by both its
discreet rear spoiler and tasteful hand painted pinstripe and
features the stock 17" aluminum wheels, all of which are in great
condition. The gray leather interior is spotless and features dual
power seats, power windows, door locks and mirrors, tilt wheel, ice
cold air conditioning, an AM/FM/CD audio system, auto day-night
mirror, twilight sentinel headlamps and a heat reflective
windshield. This is one of the cleanest SS's to grace our
showrooms, and comes with two complete sets of carpeted floor mats,
both sets of keys and fobs, the owner's manual, original window
sticker and a clean car fax. The cherry on top is Jon Moss's
signature on the inside of the trunk lid. Jon is regarded as the
"Father of the SS" and without his perseverance, the SS would most
likely have never been produced. Values are on the rise and SS's
