For Sale: 1974 Porsche 911 Carrera in Pinellas Park, Florida

Vehicle Description

Number 161 of 426 built for the US market #8203;The Garage FindOne of the fun things about investing, collecting, buying and selling vintage Porsches is the phone calls you receive. A week or two ago I get a call and the gentleman asks if I buy old Porsches, I say maybe, tell me more. He explains he has a 1974 Porsche Targa that has not been started in a lot of years and has sort of been forgotten. I ask him to send me a few pictures and he ask that I just come down to a town south of where I'm located and look at the car. When I arrive, my heart skipped a beat, I realize the car is a Carrera Targa with only 16,000 or so miles on the odometer. I ask the owner if the miles are correct and He assures me they are and he is the second owner. #8203;After inspecting the car the best I could I realize that the car needs a lot of work, but almost no rust and appears to have the original paint. The fuel systems is going to need major work from setting so long, but the engine appears to not be frozen, which after further inspection is not, but we have not attempted to start the car. To be totally upfront to put the car back to a 1 it needs a major rework. However, to put it back to an unrestored driver, my guess is $12,000/$15,000. Besides if your really interested I have an extra CSI I'll throw in for the right price. #8203;So where am I going with all of this, ok I'll tell you I first thought I would take the car apart and completely bring the car all the way back, which I still might do. However I have two cars under construction and have to decide how many cars can I rebuild at one time, knowing it will take my shop with all the work I have already given them a year of more to complete this car. #8203;So I'm probably going to regret this but, I've decided to put the car up for bids, and see if I get any serious offers. Just to help with any offer Number 426, restored, sold at auction this year for right at $90,000. #8203;As always give me a call, love talking Porsches, my golf game, airplanes, lying about how great the fishing is in the Gulf, or the stock market. #8203;Charley727-212-6569
