In 1958 Motor Trend awarded the Thunderbird as its "Car of the
Year". It was also the first Ford Motor Company vehicle designed
with uni-body construction. Although some were not happy with
Ford's redesign of the Thunderbird, sales proved otherwise with
total Thunderbird production of 37,892 for 1958.
