Mustang Boss 302. Ford's performance machine, the Boss 302, was a
direct competitor to Chevrolet's Camaro Z/28, as it offered more
performance on a reduced-weight chassis. It proved its worth on the
track, winning the SCCA's 1970 Trans-Am racing series, and it was
quite popular in the showroom as it offered customers a vehicle
that was just as comfortable on the road as it was on the track.
For 1970, the Boss 302 was fitted with hockey-stick side stripes,
and the base model 1970 grille that replaced outer headlights with
horizontal vents. Along with the exterior modifications came
changes to the chassis and suspension including standard d isc
front brakes, heavier sway bars, spindles, and shock towers. The
solid-lifter 302 cubic inch engine was rated at 290 horsepower and
backed by the standard Four Speed transmission which was the
perfect package to compete in SCCA Trans-Am racing. This 1970 Boss
302 Mustang was ordered on March 12 th ,1969 at Marion Davidson
Ford in Weatherford, Oklahoma where it was sold new. It was built
in Dearborn, Michigan with the following options: factory Grabber
Orange paint, Black Vinyl Bucket Seats, 3.50 Traction-Lok Rear
Axle, Four-Speed Close Ratio Manual Transmission, Rear Deck
Spoiler, Sport Slats, Goodyear F60 tires, AM radio, Tinted Glass,
Magnum 500 Chrome Wheels and Tachometer. Remaining a west car for
most of its life, this Boss 302 remains highly original in the
factory Grabber Orange exterior with black stripes. The car is
powered by its numbers matching Boss 302 engine, 4 speed
transmission and ford 9 inch rearend with 3.50 rear axle gear. �It

Only few Boss 302's built in 1970 were finished in the very
