Vehicle Description
This is the kind of truck that instantly gets your mind working.
You just know how amazed people will be to see you are the only one
to show up in a 1950 Ford F-5 COE (Cab Over Engine). With a more
modern diesel motor and tall exhaust stacks, who knew so much
distinction could be this obtainable?
No matter where you show up, this will probably always be the
largest toy in the toy box - why else do you think it has Tonka
written on the side (actually magnets so they can be removed)?! The
design follows the iconic first-generation F-Series truck, but this
is far rarer than the consumer-grade F-1. Instead this
one-and-a-half-ton F-5 still looks beefy today, thanks to a high
gloss black and yellow two-tone that helps put extra emphasis on
the tall cab design. More than just the most intimidating machine
out there, this one is attractive for all its brightwork, too. But
even the shine has function - like on the locking battery/tool box,
diamond plating protecting the rear section, and those expensive
22.5-inch Alcoa 10-lug wheels. Even with all of this, we know the
shiny piece you'll love the best are those tall exhaust stacks.
Inside the black, yellow, and chrome theme continues. The bouncy
50s-style seat has been replaced with twin buckets that offer far
more comfort in this long-haul machine. Other upgrades include the
large steering wheel being swapped for a grippy three-spoke unit;
there's an upgrade to an AM/FM radio; and the original gauge pack
has been replaced by a much clearer Omega Kustoms setup. But even
with all these improvements, it never spoils the vintage appearance
or atmosphere.
As the COE name suggests, the motor sits under the cab, which
contributes to the commanding height and added capabilities. In
fact, this one really is still ready to go to work thanks to an
upgrade in the engine compartment. This classic heavy duty machine
is now running an Isuzu 235ci diesel. These motors have been a
popular and reliable industrial friend for decades. That means
you've got good parts availability and plenty of torque to for
towing. This Tonka toy is so up to hauling the adult-sized toys
that it not only comes with the traditional trailer hitch, but it's
also setup for a fifth wheel, too. Backing up this useful classic
is the correct 1.5-ton rear end and 10-speed (5/5, hi/lo)
transmission. And unlike the original F-5 this one even has power
steering and power brakes.
You're not the only one who can't believe how affordable this very
unique turnkey package is, so hurry up and call today!
